September 2009

Welcome back everyone!

Since our last newsletter (June 09) the Seniors have been busy!  We took a trip to Vermont (Vermont Country Store), we had our Seniors picnic (with a magic show), we had lunch at local restaurants, and we stayed busy seeing family and friends.  And if you have not visited our website recently, you will find photos of our summer activities.  People are still trying to figure out how the magician got the $100 dollar bill into the lemon.

Activities for the month of September.

-          3 Sep:  Blood Pressure Clinic

-          10 Sep: MOW (Roast Pork).  NOTE; please call Phyllis by 1 Sep to sign up for this MOW lunch.  Also, Mark Piekarski will present a slide show on antique fire trucks.

-          17 Sep: MOW (Meatloaf with gravy).  Also, Hilda Tolles will present her biography and supply the September birthday cake.

-          24 Sep: MOW (Salisbury Steak with gravy).  We will also have our monthly business meeting.

September Birthdays:  John DiClemente, Sandy Mason, Margie Rowe, Marion Sherwin, Hilda Tolles, and Marian Warren.

1.      The Hollis Seniors now have a gateway to post cancellations on WMUR TV, airing 15 and 45 minutes past the hour on Channel 9.  If the weather looks bad, check Channel 9

2.      We have a business meeting the last Thursday of every month.  Be sure to attend.

3.      The SVTC bus service is off to a good start.  If you have any questions, give Jim B. a call at 465-2301 or call Nashua transportation at 880-0100 Ext 1

Other Senior Activities of interest.

1.      There is some discussion about putting together a Hollis Seniors Time Capsule.  Think about it.  More discussion later.

2.      Don’t forget to visit our Hollis Library.

3.      How about some “show and tells”

4.      How about having a TV weather person come and speak to us?

5.      The Hollis Fire Dept wants to visit us and serve a MOW.  All that is needed is to fit them into the schedule.

6.      SVTC 1st anniversary of the bus service is this October.  A small celebration will be held at the Lawrence Barn on 1 October 2009.  The SVTC bus should be here and SVTC personnel will be on hand to answer questions.  Tell you friends to come and meet and greet and get questions answered.  BTW, Blood Pressure clinic that day also.

7.      Work is going on scheduling a flue shot clinic, although we may need more than one.  If possible, the first will be 1 October.  Check local newspapers for updates.

Please let me know your comments and wishes.
