May 2010

Say Hello to some new members: Robert & Marjorie Frank.  Welcome!

We had a great April with Bill DeFeo telling of his experiences rafting down the Colorado River (Grand Canyon) and the singing group “Elmar N’ Friends” entertaining us.  We also had lunch at the HBMS.  It would be great if more seniors attended this event.  It is a great time to talk to the  “younger generation.”

Gerry is planning to print certificates of appreciation for the volunteers who work serving the meals all year and for all past presidents who are still members.  Gerry asked for a motion from the floor to appropriate $100.00 for two gift certificates. One for Denise April and husband Josh for all the work they do in coordinating volunteers and maintaining our web site.  Another for Jim and Sandy Belanger for providing the storage unit to store our yard sale material for the months prior to the yard sale.  Motion to that effect made by Bill McKay, second by Jack Dunn and the motion carried.

We had another pot luck lunch, along with showing appreciation to all our lunch volunteers.  It seems the end of month “pot lucks” are well received.  So we plan on continuing this event with a “pot luck” the end of 1 month and pizza the end of the next month.  And remember, the last Thursday of the month is our business meeting.

We are already planning for our summer picnic that will be held 10 Jun 2010.  Right now it looks like the “Boot-Scootin-Boomers” are going to be our entertainment.   Make your plans to come!

Activities for the month of May and June:

-          6 May:  MOW, blood pressure and movie-time.  This month it is “Grumpy Old Men.”

-          13 May:  MOW + a Guest speaker demonstrating aromatherapy oils and examples of ear rings made from fishing flies.

-          18 May:  Lunch at the HBMS (11:15) Cost is $3.00

-          20 May:  MOW + Reiki demonstration

-          27 May: Business meeting and Pot Luck.

-          3 Jun:  MOW, blood pressure and movie-time. In June it will be “The Bucket List.”

-          10 Jun:  We will be having our annual picnic.  And the “Boot-Scootin-Boomers” will be entertaining us.  So, come one, come all.
