February/March 2009

On 5 Feb, we had a presentation by Gaye Kulvete on the Hollis Library.  Gaye is the “head librarian” of the Hollis Social Library and she described all the great resources available at the Hollis Library.  The library also has a great computer set up and there is no charge for using them.  We also had another wonderful lunch at the HBMS on 17 February. Additionally, see some of the folks that came to see the “paratransit bus” when it visited the seniors on 19 February 2.  See photos at the end.

Our Hollis web site:  for all you folks with computers, or access to computers, (like at the library) check out our Hollis Seniors web site (above).  Denise and Josh have done a GREAT job on setting up this web site to include various pictures of us seniors made into slide shows.  Also, check out the Souhegan Valley newsletter that highlights the “bus.” Simply go to “souhegan_valley_rides_newsletter_jan_2009.  Note, this will be a pdf file.

General:

1. REMEMBER to attend/participate in the Hollis town meeting.

3. We have a business meeting the last Thursday of every month.  Be sure to attend

4. We will be having an AARP Driver Safety Class on 24 and 25 March.  Cost is $12 for AARP members, $14 for non-AARP members.  Please call Andy S. if you want to sign up for this class.  As a side note, some insurance companies grant premium reductions if you take this course.

Other Senior Activities of interest:

How about taking a trip to the Vermont Country Store located in Rockingham or Weston VT.  It would make a great day trip.

It has been suggested that we sponsor a child through the “Save the Children Foundation.”

Remember “dues” of $10 per person.  If you are unpaid, see Sandy.

Please let me know your comments and wishes.
