December 2012

We have added some new members.  Stop by and say “hi” to Paul Gauvreau, John Ogrodowczyk (goes by John O), Madeline Stumpf and Helen Wesoly.  Now, did I leave anyone out?

NOTICE:  Our Christmas/Winter dinner will be held 13 Dec.  See/call Nancy Bell at 603-465-7822 for your reservations NLT 6 Dec.

We started our November program with a discussion on medical costs presented by Glenn Flessas of Bankers Life and Casualty.  Glenn covered everything from   Medicare “open season” options to various parts of Medicare supplemental plans and to the pyramid of investments.  He also explained the financial realities of Retirement, Medical expenses, Survivor’s income and Long-term care.

Casey Morgan, from Wide Salamander here in Hollis, presented a program on her Creative Arts Center.  She has classes and workshops for all ages, from 2 to 99.  The workshops range from Fly tying, to Stamp making, to Ornament painting to Jewelry making to….Her classes are available day time and evening.  Stop by and see what she has to offer.

We also discussed upcoming nominations for next year’s officers.  Currently, open positions are President, Secretary, and Program Coordinator.  If anyone wants to step up, please contact Honi.

1.      We have a business meeting the last Thursday of every month (except Thanksgiving).  Be sure to attend.

2.      The SVTC bus service has gotten better.  If you have any questions, call Nashua transportation at 880-0100 Ext 1.  And you can visit the SVTC web site at www.SouheganRides.org.  And if you have not registered with the “blue bus”, please do so by calling the above number.

3.      Senior notification.  The Hollis communication center has a procedure in place by which seniors can be registered for Health and Welfare phone calls.  Forms to register for this service are available from the Communications Center.

Future Senior Activities of interest.

1.      How about a trip to the NH State House to see and hear our State Reps at work?  (We now have one of our own as a State Representative).

2.      How about having a TV weather person come and speak to us?

3.      We are working on a trip to the Apple store at Pheasant Lane mall to get some “hands on experience” of the latest technology?  No cost.  And then maybe lunch at some of the new restaurants located there?

Please let me know your comments and wishes.
