April 2011

We had some interesting sessions during the month of March.  First, Dr Jim Belanger presented a talk on taking care of your pets during the winter months.  He talked about the do’s and don’t’s of what your winter-bound pets really need, especially paying attention to their diet and dental health. We then had Madelyn Monahan present her “bio.”  What an interesting and event filled life she has been living.  Finally, Bill DeFeo presented a detailed explanation about antique clocks. He talked about how they work and the craftsmanship that created these wonderful old time masterpieces.  Finally, Nancy Bell set about arranging a “chocolate” trip, to take place in May.  I believe just about all the seats are already taken.  Looks like we have a bunch of “chocolate lovers”!

The business meeting was held of 31 March 2011.

As an added bonus, several members took advantage of the AARP Safe Driving Class that was held here at the “Barn.”

Activities for the month of April:

-          7 Apr:  MOW + Blood Pressure+ Movie: “The “Blind Side”

-          14 Apr:  MOW + demonstration by Hedi Cadwell on the use of a “spinning wheel.”

-          19 Apr:  School lunch at the HBMS.  Time is 12:15 and cost is $3.00/pp

-          21 Apr:  MOW + Hollis Police Department on “home safety.”

-          28 Apr:  MOW + monthly business meeting

April Birthdays: Frank Ballou, Honi Glover, Norma Gundersen, Trudi Luthi, Bill McKay, and Betty Stewart
